Environmental Sustainability

Sede del Gruppo Ascopiave Environmental sustainability is a fundamental pillar of Ascopiave’s strategy, guiding the Group’s efforts to reduce the environmental impact of its activities and to actively contribute to the energy transition.

Our commitment is reflected in concrete actions for energy efficiency and the responsible management of natural resources.

In 2024, the Group strengthened its environmental strategy by aligning with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), adopting structured reporting according to the new standards on the climate and environmental impacts of its activities.

LOGO Decarbonization and Emissions Reduction
Ascopiave is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and optimizing energy management. In 2024, the Group:

  • Monitored 10,163 km of gas network to identify and reduce fugitive methane emissions, covering 69.13% of the total network;
  • Reduced fugitive emissions by 4.6% compared to 2023, thanks to the use of Picarro technology;
  • Set a target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15.5% by 2030, with 2024 as the baseline year;
  • Launched new projects for the production of energy from renewable sources through its subsidiaries active in this sector.

The goal is progressive decarbonization, in line with European policies for the ecological transition.

LOGO Energy Efficiency and Innovation
The Group continues to invest in sustainable infrastructure to support the decarbonization of the sector. Key actions in 2024 include:

  • Commissioning a 21.6 MW wind plant in Calabria, which will contribute to emission reductions;
  • Launching the third section of a photovoltaic plant (operational from 2025);
  • Increasing the share of sustainable vehicles in the company fleet, introducing hybrid and electric vehicles and installing charging stations;
  • Digitalizing gas distribution networks, with 88% of smart meters installed to enhance energy efficiency and consumption measurement.
LOGO Natural Resource Management and Land Protection
Responsible management of natural resources is essential to reducing the environmental impacts of Ascopiave’s operations. In 2024:

  • The subsidiary Cart Acqua, through its stake in Cogeide, managed the water service in 15 municipalities, investing in infrastructure to reduce water losses;
  • Renewable energy plants have been enhanced, contributing to clean energy production and the reduction of CO₂ emissions.
  • Actions were taken to reduce waste generated by industrial activities and to promote the use of sustainable materials.

The Ascopiave Group will continue to monitor and update its environmental objectives, adopting a data-driven and measurable approach to ensure a positive impact on the sector and the territory.

Ascopiave is committed to transparently reporting progress towards sustainability, contributing to the United Nations 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals.
